In 2007 Matthew and Lauren arrived in Amman, Jordan to work alongside of our other Associates, Jody and Ruth Miller. The first couple of years they spent a lot of time learning the language, culture and how they could effectively care for and meet the needs of the Iraqi refugees and other nationalities that lived in their neighborhood. Matthew spent a lot of time working with young people, and at one time put together a soccer team for boys. During these first couple of years Matthew and Lauren were blessed with two children, Caedmon and Camille. This, of course, kept Lauren very busy.

In 2010 Matthew and Lauren moved to the west side of Amman to be able to live closer to where many college students are living. Matthew began teaching English to some of the local students. They also have opened their home up to people they have met in order to build closer relationships with them. They are very excited to start a 6 month to 1 year-long internship for young people who are interested in living and working in the Middle East. They desire to help them become acclimated to life in the Middle East, but more importantly helping them to find ways that they too can show love and bring hope to those who are in such great need.
