Proceeds for Poverty thanks YOU
Litterly hundreds of people barged through the doors on Thursday afternoon and the fun didn't end until 3pm today. Thank you to all who came out and participated. You are all superheros, people who are helping other people in desperate need!
We have the totals! From the generosity of the people of the Roanoke Valley around $17,000 was raised through the first year of Proceeds for Poverty!
100% of the money will go towards building a home for orphaned and abandoned children, helping to finish a school in the slums of Port-au-Prince, Haiti (which will effect around 300 children), and building 4 clean water wells in 4 villages which will effect around 20,000 people who do not have access to clean water.
We also have enough to feed 50 children for one month and provide 5 families the tools and training needed to start a sewing businesses and provide for their family for a life.
To see the tangible results come here in the upcoming months as we go and record the people and effects of Roanoke’s generosity.
Also, Proceeds for Poverty leftovers went to help people in need all over the Roanoke Valley!
We will be doing this again! Come here for more information on how to donate and get a tax deductible reciept or for the dates of the next Proceeds for Poverty sale.
Thank you again for helping change the lives of people in utter poverty!!! This event reminds us again of God's love for all people everywhere.

5 CAUSES to CHOSE FROM:
clean water well:
Every year over 2.2 million children under five die from sicknesses and diseases because they do not have access to clean water. Provide clean well water for a village in desperate need. We can build one well with every $2,250 worth of stuff we sell.
sewing business:
About 15% of the world’s population is under nourished. Help someone living in poverty provide basic needs for their family with the training and tools to start their own tailoring business. We can give one sewing machine and the training needed for every $300 worth of stuff we sell.
a home for the orphaned:
Every 15 seconds another child is orphaned. In India alone, there are more than 24 million orphans who have no one to love and care for them. Help to provide a home for orphaned and abandoned children. For $50,000 we can purchase land, dig a well, and build a Children’s Home with a dining hall, bedrooms and bathrooms for about 60 children.
food for the hungry:
Every day 26,000 children die from starvation and preventable diseases. Help provide food for families without the means to this basic need. If we sell $30 worth of stuff we can provide enough food for a person in need for one month.
school building:
In Haiti only 54% of the population knows how to read or write. Help educate children from the slums of Port-Au-Prince by expanding a school. For $18,000 we can help complete the addition needed for this school to educate more children.
