Pune Children's Home

The Pune Children’s Home (PUN) is located in the Maharastra State, and is 140 miles from Bombay. In this city, the main language is Marathi, secondarily they speak the Hindi language. Many people from Andhra Pradesh have come to Pune for employment. The children continue to speak the Telegu language. Most of the Telegu people are unemployed and they are only hired as daily laborers in this industrial area.

Pastor G.D. Prabhudas and his wife care for these precious boys and girls. Prabhudas has a special place in his heart for the widows of his city. These widows do not own a place to stay and don’t have adequate places for their children to live. The widows work daily from morning to evening in different houses as house servants. Their “bosses” treat them very badly and pay them very little. This income does not allow them to even buy sufficient food for themselves, and therefore their children are not getting sufficient food and education. Because the widows are working all the time, there is not proper care for the children and no one to look after them.

Mr. G.D. Prabhudas started a small home in his church residence to give these 29 children a loving home to learn Bible stories, and also to have food, clothing and education.
