Varsova Home
The Varsova Children’s Home (VSV) is located 25 miles away from Mumbai City. In November 2005 the home was assessed and established. The children live in one of the poorest slum areas of the world.
Pastor Jayraj and his wife Martha are the main Caretakers of this home. They have three precious children. Pastor Jayraj started this home with his wife because of their great love for slum children.
Pastor Jayraj was asked to help take care of seven children who did not have anyone to love or care for them. He gladly took these children in his home as if they were his own. Soon after this, more children were brought to this home to be cared for. Jayraj could not turn these precious children away. The boys were sleeping in a hut made with bamboo trees covered with plastic bags. In Bombay, they call these homes “Jopdas”. They are typically used by fisherman to separate and dry the fish.
Through the help of monthly sponsors each child is now being fed three meals per day. We also thank God for the donations that were provided to purchase some living space above a few homes in the slum area. Bamboo walls and a covering were put over this area to provide shelter for these 37 children.
