Proceeds for Poverty Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really 100%?
Yes, we give 100% of the profits towards the 5 causes we have chosen. This event is subsidized by organizations, businesses, and individuals like you. This is how we are able to give 100% of the funds to the designated causes.
What is the purpose of Proceeds for Poverty?
Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) believes that every life is valuable and looks for opportunities to help meet the basic needs of individuals and communities who are in need. The Proceeds for Poverty event will help GPPD meet the needs of people living in poverty in places like India, Haiti, Slovakia, Uganda and the Middle East. Our desire is that this event will unite the people of the Roanoke Valley. Together we can truly make a difference in the world.
What can I Give?
We accept almost anything in good working condition: appliances, antiques, electronics, furniture, jewelry, sporting goods, tools, baby and kids things, toys, DVDs, CDs, kitchen items, home décor items, cars, boats, and whatever else you can think of.
We do not accept entertainment centers, pianos, cothing, exercise equipment, or box TVs. If you have youth/adult clothing to donate, a local group, T.U.G.A, gives away clothing to those in need in the Roanoke Valley. We will give any clothing you donate to TUGA, however, we cannot give a tax deductible receipt for clothing donations.
How do I get my items to you?

If you have large furniture items, appliances, or are moving, we will do our best to make arrangments to help you. Please call Charlene at 540.765.4300 to set up an appointment.
Tags and Tax Deductible Receipt?
If you would like to tag your item for a specific cause, please contact us so that we can make sure your items are marked.
To receive a tax deduction, according to IRS regulations, you must complete a tax-deductible receipt which will be signed at the time of drop off or pick up.
If you are not concerned with getting a tax deductible receipt you do not need to complete the form.
Why not help people in poverty in the US?
This event actually will! All donations that do not sell will go to local organizations and groups to help those in need in Roanoke and the Harrisburg Area. Poverty affects so many people in the U.S., but the majority of the poorest people in U.S.A are still in the top 15% of the world’s richest people. Global Partners sees both as important, but this particular event mainly focuses on some of the poorest people in the world.
