Proceeds for Poverty Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we will give 100% of the profits towards the 5 causes we have chosen. Global Partners in Peace and Development as well as the Proceeds for Poverty event are subsidized by organizations, businesses, and individuals like you. This is how we are able to give 100% of the funds to the designated causes.
Purpose of Proceeds for Poverty?
Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) believes that every life is valuable and looks for opportunities to help meet the basic needs of individuals and communities who are in need. The Proceeds for Poverty event will help GPPD meet the needs of people living in poverty in places like India, Haiti, Nepal, Slovakia and the Middle East. Our desire is that this event will unite the people of the Roanoke Valley. Together we can truly make a difference in the world.
What to Give?
Whether you can give a lot or a just a little, every penny will make a difference in the life of someone living in poverty. We will take anything in good working condition: appliances, antiques, books, electronics, furniture, jewelry, sporting goods, tools, baby and kids things, toys, DVDs, CDs, kitchen items, home décor items, cars, boats, and whatever else you can think of. We do not accept entertainment centers or t.v.'s (unless flat screen). We also do not accept youth/adult clothing, though if you do have youth/adult clothing that you would like to donate there is a local group, T.U.G.A., that gives away clothing to those in need in the Roanoke Valley. We will give whatever clothing you donate to TUGA, however, we cannot give a tax deductible receipt for your clothing donations.

Why not help people in poverty in the US?
This event actually will! All the donations that do not sell will go to local organizations and groups to help those in need in Roanoke and the Harrisburg Area. Poverty affects so many people in the U.S. too, but the majority of the poorest people in U.S.A are still in the top 15% of the world’s richest people. Global Partners sees both as important, but this particular event mainly focuses on some of the poorest people in the world.
