PA Proceeds for Poverty Frequently Asked Questions

100%, Really?!

Yes, we will give 100% of the profits towards the 3 causes we have chosen.  Global Partners in Peace and Development as well as the Proceeds for Poverty event are subsidized by organizations, businesses, and individuals like you. This is how we are able to give 100% of the funds to the designated causes.

Purpose of Proceeds for Poverty?

Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) believes that every life is valuable and looks for opportunities to help meet the basic needs of individuals and communities who are in need. The Proceeds for Poverty event will help GPPD meet the needs of people living in poverty in places like India, Haiti, Slovakia and the Middle East. Our desire is that this event will unite the people of the Harrisburg Area. Together we can truly make a difference in the world.

What to Give?

Whether you can give a lot or a just a little, every penny will make a difference in the life of someone living in poverty. We will take anything in good working condition: appliances, antiques, books, electronics, furniture, jewelry, sporting goods, tools, baby and kids things, toys, DVDs, CDs, kitchen items, home décor items, cars, boats, and whatever else you can think of. We do not accept box t.v.'s (only flat screen). We also do not accept youth/adult clothing. We will give whatever clothing you donate to a local organization, however we cannot give a tax deductible receipt for your clothing donations.

How do I get my items to you?

Items may be dropped off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (July 18-20) from 9am to 7pm. If you have any furniture or large items you would like to arrange to drop off ahead of time please contact Vicki at 717-712-3138.

Tags and Tax Deductible Receipt?

If you would like to have your items donated to a specific cause, please contact us so that we can make sure your items are marked.

To receive a tax deduction, according to IRS regulations, you must complete a tax-deductible receipt which will be signed at the time of drop off.

If you are not concerned with getting a tax deductible receipt you do not need to complete the form.

Why not help people in poverty in the US?

This event actually will! All the donations that do not sell will go to local organizations and groups to help those in need in the Harrisburg Area. Poverty affects so many people in the U.S. too, but the majority of the poorest people in U.S.A are still in the top 15% of the world’s richest people. Global Partners sees both as important, but this particular event mainly focuses on some of the poorest people in the world.

This is EPIC, how can I help get the word out?
