Proceeds For Poverty

Roanoke, VA 2013

Months leading up to the Roanoke Valley's Proceeds for Poverty, donations flooded in filling up two tractor trailers with furniture, appliances, toys, kitchen ware and even Christmas decorations. Many more people brought items to the old grocery store building (where Proceeds for Poverty was held) the three days before the sale.

Over 100 volunteers came out to help run the massive 3 day sale from churches all across the Roanoke Valley. Thursday, May 16th they excitedly welcomed a long line of awaiting shoppers.

Within the first few hours hundreds of people came through the doors in search of a new treasure that would help bring an eternal treasure to people all around the world living in desperate poverty.

When the sale ended Saturday at 2 pm only about 5% of the sale items donated were left in the middle of the warehouse. Those items were given to local charities.

Last year the event raised a little less than $30,000 to help some of the poorest people in the world. The donations provided clean water wells to villages with no access to clean water, helped build homes for orphans, raised funds for women to start their own sewing businesses, and provided food for the needy. This year we are so excited to share with everyone the final amount for Proceeds for Poverty 2013. With all purchases and special donations, $44,000 was raised for the four causes!

We are so very grateful for all of the volunteers, donors, and purchasers! Because of them lives will be impacted around the world!!
