At 11 p.m. on Friday, October 2, Amber Hasson and Kervenson walked off a plane at the Roanoke airport and into the arms of family and friends. It was a moment many of us had prayed about for years, and one that so often seemed impossible.

Amber is our longtime Associate in Haiti, where she has cared for children at the Rév Home. For more than seven years, she worked to complete Kervenson’s adoption and bring him home. The road included mountains of paperwork, delays, an immigration halt, an unexpected waiver, and door after door that seemed shut.

But God was faithful.

Amber kept pushing forward, alongside Leeanne, who has fought just as hard for the kids who grew up in the Rév Home. Through many tears, sleepless nights, and being told “no” again and again, they did not give up. And neither did so many of you who kept praying with them.

Officially Kervenson Pierre Hasson

Days after arriving, Kervenson completed his final citizenship appointment. He is now officially Kervenson Pierre Hasson, a citizen of the United States!

We have prayed alongside Amber through so many pieces of this journey, and it is hard to put into words how meaningful it is to see this door finally open. If you have prayed for Amber and Kervenson along the way, thank you. This is your answer to prayer too.

The journey isn’t finished

Amber is still adjusting to this new season, with many decisions to make about the road ahead. She is also walking through this same process for the other boys in her care, who are still in Haiti. There are still roadblocks to clear and real costs ahead, including legal fees and travel.

Please pray with us

  • For Kervenson as he adjusts to a new country, a new home, and a whole new life
  • For Amber, for strength, wisdom, provision, and God’s peace in every next step
  • For the other boys in Amber’s care, that God would open the door for their family to be together again soon

We don’t have to understand God’s timing to trust Him. He sees what we cannot see, knows what we do not know, and is present even in the long seasons of waiting. Whatever you are waiting on today, we pray this story brings you hope.

God is able!

Help Amber take the next steps

Your prayers and gifts help bring the rest of Amber’s family home.
