ABOUT THE WELL

Location: Itegyero Village, Sheema District, Uganda
Project: New community groundwater well with hand pump
Purpose: Provides water for drinking, cooking, washing, hygiene, and other daily household needs
Previous Water Source: An open, shallow surface-water source with muddy water exposed to runoff, animals, and surrounding environmental contamination
New Water Source: A protected groundwater well with a hand-operated pump
Well Platform: Concrete apron constructed around the pump
Drainage: Built-in drainage channel carries excess water away from the collection area
Community Use: The completed well is operational and being used by local residents
Impact: Families now have direct access to a cleaner, more protected, and more dependable water source than the previous open collection point
