Pastor Chendra Paul has been a pastor for 20 years. There are 150 members at this particular church. The people are SC (Sceduled Cast) which means they are the very lowest in the cast system. There are about 5,000 people in the village but because they are low cast people no one else will share a well with them. That is why they need their own well, others will not share with them in the nearby areas. They were getting water from 1 km away from a clean water source. About 200 people will use the well daily. The well is 800 feet deep on the church property. It’s so deep they couldn’t use a hand pump so they had to put a motor pump. The church helped pay for some of the cost since it was more expensive to put in the deeper well and also the motor pump.
