Tentative Itinerary
Travel Day: Depart Washington Dulles (Monday, October 12)
Our pilgrimage to the land of the Bible begins as we depart Washington Dulles, with hearts of anticipation to visit the places where God revealed Himself to His people: from the patriarchs to the prophets, and ultimately through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Travel Day: Arrival in Amman, Jordan – Refresh & Rest (Tuesday, October 13)
We land in Amman in the early evening and will transfer by bus to the Toledo Hotel, about a 45-minute ride. The evening will be a time to unpack, shower, rest from travel, and a great time to get to know some of your team members. Overnight at Toledo Hotel.
Day 1: Partners Ministry, Jabbok River & Jerash (Wednesday, October 14)
Begin the morning visiting local partners in ministry, learning about their amazing work and taking time to pray together. Then journey north to the Jabbok River—where Jacob wrestled with God all night in a transformative encounter that renamed him Israel and blessed a nation (Genesis 32:22-32). From there, explore Jerash (ancient Gerasa of the Decapolis), one of the cities where the healed demoniac proclaimed Jesus' power (Mark 5:20), its Roman arches, streets, and amphitheater echoing the Greco-Roman world Jesus entered. Return to Amman. Overnight at Toledo Hotel.
Day 2: Partners Ministry, Amman Highlights & Drive to Petra (Thursday, October 15)
Spend the morning with two of our ministry partners who are directly impacting the large refugee population in Jordan. Afterwards, we will discover some of Amman's treasures: the Roman Amphitheater, a 2nd-century wonder from when the city was Philadelphia. Ascend to the Amman Citadel, overlooking the city where Ammonite history intersects with David's era (2 Samuel 12:26-31). Next, we will visit Mt. Nebo, where Moses was able to view the Promised Land. Drive south to Petra, arriving to rest in this rose-red wonderland tied to Edom's legacy (Genesis 36:8-9). Overnight in Petra.
Day 3: Petra Tour & Wadi Rum Overnight (Friday, October 16)
Explore the magnificent Nabatean city of Petra that is carved into cliffs, a trading hub in biblical times. Walk the Siq canyon to the Treasury, wander Royal Tombs and ancient streets, perhaps with optional donkey rides evoking caravans of old (Genesis 37:25). In the afternoon, a short trip to Wadi Rum for a desert tour amid vast dunes and sandstone peaks where landscapes are reminiscent of the wilderness where God provided for His people (Exodus 17:6). Enjoy Bedouin hospitality and overnight in Wadi Rum under starry skies that declare God's glory (Psalm 19:1).
Day 4: Drive to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, Dead Sea Float & Hotel (Saturday, October 17)
Depart early in the morning to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the sacred site where John baptized Jesus, the heavens opened, and the Spirit descended like a dove (Matthew 3:13-17; John 1:28). Reflect on this cornerstone of our faith, perhaps being baptized for the first time or renewing your baptismal commitment from years ago. Then float in the buoyant waters of the Dead Sea, Earth's lowest point, not far from the plains of Sodom and Gomorrah's judgment (Genesis 19:24-26). Put on mineral mud for refreshment before heading to your room at the beautiful Movenpick Hotel by the Dead Sea.
Day 5: Cross into Israel, Sea of Galilee Boat Tour & Mount of Beatitudes (Sunday, October 18)
Cross the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge into Israel and drive to Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. Embark on a boat tour across these waters where Jesus walked on the waves (Matthew 14:22-33), calmed the storm (Mark 4:35-41), and called His disciples. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus taught us how to live (Matthew 5-7). Overnight in/near Tiberius.
Day 6: Galilee Ministry Sites – Capernaum to Caesarea (Monday, October 19)
Trace Jesus' footsteps in Galilee: Capernaum, His ministry base, with synagogue ruins and Peter's house (Mark 1:21-29; Matthew 8:14-17). Nazareth—Church of the Annunciation, where the angel Gabriel announced the birth of Christ (Luke 1:26-38). Cana, site of Jesus' first miracle turning water to wine (John 2:1-11). Mount of Precipice, overlooking where locals sought to throw Jesus off (Luke 4:28-30) and a view of Mt. Tabor. Megiddo (Armageddon), ancient stronghold tied to end-times prophecy (Revelation 16:16). Caesarea by the Sea, where Peter preached to Gentiles and Paul was imprisoned (Acts 10; 23:23-35). Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 7: Jerusalem – Old City & Passion Sites (Tuesday, October 20)
Enter the holy city: Temple Mount area, Eastern Gate (awaiting Messiah's return, Zechariah 14:4), Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the paralytic (John 5:1-15), St. Anne’s Church. Walk the Via Dolorosa, tracing Jesus' path to crucifixion (John 19), to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the traditional site of Golgotha and the empty tomb (John 19-20). Visit the Western Wall, place of prayer. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 8: Jerusalem – David to Resurrection (Wednesday, October 21)
Explore the City of David (2 Samuel 5:9). Optional walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel (additional cost), ancient water system (2 Kings 20:20). Pool of Siloam, where Jesus healed the blind man (John 9). Church of All Nations (Garden of Gethsemane), where Jesus prayed before betrayal (Matthew 26:36-46). Mount of Olives overlook where Jesus ascended into heaven. Garden Tomb, alternative site of the crucifixion and resurrection, for quiet reflection on the risen Christ. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 9: Bethlehem, Jericho & More (Thursday, October 22)
To Bethlehem—Church of the Nativity, traditional birthplace of Jesus (Luke 2:1-7), Manger Square. Possibly Rachel’s Tomb (Genesis 35:19). Jericho, oldest city, where walls fell by faith (Joshua 6). Mount of Temptations, where Jesus overcame Satan (Matthew 4:1-11). Bethany, Lazarus’ tomb (John 11). King David’s Tomb and Upper Room, site of the Last Supper (Luke 22:14-20). Overnight in Jerusalem.
Day 10: Qumran, Masada, Hebron & Old City Shopping (Friday, October 23)
Qumran, where Dead Sea Scrolls—preserving God’s Word—were found (Isaiah 40:3). Masada via cable car, fortress of heroic stand echoing faithfulness. Time for shopping in Jerusalem’s Old City and then packing for our return home. Overnight in Jerusalem.
Travel Day: Early Departure from Tel Aviv (Saturday, October 24)
4:45 AM departure from Tel Aviv airport. Fly home, hearts transformed by walking where Abraham believed, Moses led, and Jesus lived, died, and rose again. May our faith deepened forever in the land of the Bible.
