A 13-Year-Old’s Gift of Clean Water
Over about 15 months, Emmeline raised the funds for a new well that now gives about 200 children in Kyampisi, Uganda, safe water every day.
In September, our drilling team in Uganda completed a new well on the grounds of Rhino Christian Nursery & Primary School in Kyampisi. Today, about 200 children there have safe, clean water every day.
There is a story behind this well that we love to tell. It was fully funded by Emmeline, a 13-year-old from Idaho.
Fifteen months of faithfulness
Emmeline set up a fundraiser on GPPD’s GoFundMe platform and kept at it for about 15 months, never giving up until she reached her goal. Along the way, she:
- Sent letters to almost everyone she knew to share what she was doing
- Wrote a monthly newsletter to keep family and friends updated
- Held an Earth Day bake sale
- Made and sold homemade Valentine’s Day cards and bracelets
God can use anyone, at any age, who is willing to say “yes.”
We are so thankful for Emmeline’s heart and her commitment to see this through, and we praise God for the way He used her and everyone who gave alongside her.
More than a source of water
Rhino Christian School sits in a rural farming community where many families work hard just to meet their everyday needs. Now the children there have clean water right at their school.
Like every GPPD well, this one is about more than water. It gives our local partners a new opportunity to serve families, build relationships, and share God’s love.
Could you start a fundraiser too?
Emmeline’s story is a reminder that you don’t have to wait to make a difference. Whether you are 13 or 83, you can gather your family, friends, church, or school around a well and bring clean water and hope to a community that needs it.
Thank you, Emmeline!
