General FAQs

IS IT REALLY 100%

Yes, we give 100% of the profits towards the causes we have chosen. The event is volunteer-supported, and any costs are subsidized by organizations, businesses, and individuals like you. This is how we are able to give 100% of the donated funds to people in need.

WHY DID PROCEEDS FOR POVERTY BEGIN?

Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) believes that every life is valuable and looks for opportunities to help meet the basic needs of individuals and communities who are in need. The Proceeds for Poverty event will help GPPD meet the needs of people living in poverty in places like India, Haiti, Slovakia, Uganda and the Middle East. Our desire is that this event will unite the people of the Roanoke Valley. Together we can truly make a difference in the world.

CAN I GET A TAX RECEIPT?

To receive a tax deduction, according to IRS regulations, you must complete a tax-deductible receipt which will be signed at the time of drop off or pick up.

If you are not concerned with getting a tax deductible receipt you do not need to complete the form.

WHY NOT HELP PEOPLE IN THE U.S.?

This event actually will! Part of the proceeds from this event will go to Street Ransom, a local organization that assists survivors of sex trafficking. All donations that do not sell will go to local organizations and groups to help those in need in Roanoke Valley. Poverty affects so many people in the U.S., but the majority of the poorest people in U.S.A are still in the top 15% of the world’s richest people. Global Partners sees both as important, but this particular event mainly focuses on some of the poorest people in the world.
