General FAQs

Is it really 100%?

Yes, we give 100% of the profits towards the 5 causes we have chosen. The event is volunteer-supported, and any costs are subsidized by organizations, businesses, and individuals like you. This is how we are able to give 100% of the funds to the designated causes.

What is the purpose of Proceeds for Poverty?

Global Partners in Peace and Development (GPPD) believes that every life is valuable and looks for opportunities to help meet the basic needs of individuals and communities who are in need. The Proceeds for Poverty event will help GPPD meet the needs of people living in poverty in places like India, Haiti, Slovakia, Uganda and the Middle East. Our desire is that this event will unite the people of the Roanoke Valley. Together we can truly make a difference in the world.

Why not help people in poverty in the US?

This event actually will! Part of the proceeds from this event will go to Street Ransom, a local organization that assists survivors of sex trafficking. All donations that do not sell will go to local organizations and groups to help those in need in Roanoke Valley. Poverty affects so many people in the U.S., but the majority of the poorest people in U.S.A are still in the top 15% of the world’s richest people. Global Partners sees both as important, but this particular event mainly focuses on some of the poorest people in the world.

How can I help get the word out?

  • Llike our Proceeds for Poverty Facebook page and invite your friends to the event.
  • If you live near the Roanoke area, request a yard sign to promote the event.
  • Request flyers to pass out at events, your workplace, to friends and family, or a local restaurant.
  • Email or text a link to this P4P page.
